Microsoft Dynamics GP, the ERP that's powered midmarket finance teams for over 30 years, is retiring. The clock is running. If your organization is still on GP, the decisions you make in the next 12 to 24 months will determine whether your migration is controlled or costly.

Join Highspring's finance transformation specialists to learn how organizations are approaching ERP strategy, technology modernization, and AI as part of a successful finance transformation.

The current Dynamics GP timeline

Microsoft has set a firm end-of-life timeline for Dynamics GP. Here's what that means in practice:

  • April 1, 2025: New perpetual licenses no longer available
  • April 1, 2026: Both perpetual and subscription licenses unavailable for new customers
  • December 31, 2029: End of mainstream support, including payroll tax table updates, compliance fixes, and technical support
  • April 30, 2031: End of security updates and patches official end of life

If your organization is running Dynamics GP 2018, your end-of-life date is January 10, 2029, significantly earlier than the broader timeline.

Why this Matters for your Finance Organization

The retirement of Microsoft Dynamics GP is more than a technology transition. It is an opportunity to modernize your finance organization, adopt leading practices, and establish a technology foundation that supports future growth.

Rather than simply replacing an ERP, leading organizations are using this moment to optimize business processes, improve reporting, strengthen governance, and evaluate how Artificial Intelligence can enhance finance operations. Selecting the right platform today is about more than meeting current requirements. It is about enabling the next generation of finance capabilities.
